Farrington; Fawcett; Fechner;
Card-F-01-01 DEH It is an historical fact, & not astrological fancy, that the stars have governed man’s condition. What this star thinks of the others has made him what he is. For, as BF [Farrington] has said, the starry heavens were the visible image & the revelation of the divine, and as such “they played a multiple role in the government of cities & empires. The stability of ancient oligarchical society was bound up with a particular view of astronomy.” And our culture has its roots in that same society & its view. In important respects, this statement of sidereal influence is itself an instance of it.
Card-F-01-03 DEH There is no ‘direct’ seeing. Seeing is a ‘proper channel’ building up to, or breaking down to, what you are at your level… we are imprisoned at our level in the sense that while we can ‘see all levels’ these seeing is always mediated, & heavenly ‘perspectivated’.
Card-F-01-09: Fechner — his vision of the living Earth.
Card-F-01-10 DEH Yet our astronomical knowledge is part of the knowledge by which Earth is able to pick its way!!
Card-F-01-12 DEH: one has to be Earth to feel as Earth.
