Card-F-11-01. Reading Freud: New Introductory Lectures.

Card-F-11-05 DEH: 1. Freud is quite right. Father in heaven is an extension of the father of/or the family. A man cannot be a man without a more or less conscious (identification of) super-ego. And this Super-ego is a function of or an element in his own mind. God is a projection: so is the State: so is Humanity & all are stagesof the Super-ego. 2. And that the characters of one stage should reflect another is natural & right. Christ himself argued from our earthly to our Heavenly Father. For the one level of your mind feeds the other. There is full continuity upwards from family-level to God-level, & the same laws hold throughout. 3. As parents decide for, think for, act for children, but encourage them to take over gradually what is really their super-ego, so does God encourage us to take over more & more our own governance. This is done, not by, ultimately, rebelling against or ignoring God, but by becoming more & more conscious of the rightness of his ways. As we grow older we realise that our parents acted well on our behalf: we identify ourselves with what they have done.

Father in Heaven. Their will is now ours. Super-ego becomes Ego, fully conscious, not other, oneself. This it has always been, in effect, but unconsciously. 4. Freud & Marx & their followers are in position of children who are leaving the nest, finding their wings, & despising their parents. This is a necessary stage in mental growth, but it is temporary & blind in its own way. Until we are one-with-God, we need, & rely upon, our Super-ego, i.e. the higher part of our Mind. The communist & freudian are really, & comically, imagining they have got to the stage where they are fully conscious. Actually what the former do is to worship the Father which is the Communist Society.

Card-F-11  FATHER

Douglas writes about Freud and the Father/God figure. He points out that Freud is in the stage of rebelling against the father, whereas the greater maturity is to realise that the father was acting in your best interest. This reflects on his own relationship with his own father.

Card-F-11-13 More and more I realise the importance of inter-monadic levels. Secondary personalities. Species that merge with other species& now the purposeful subconscious. None fit into a rigid monadic hierarchy. The monads are clearish landmarks on the vertical ^v route, but the deeper fact is absolute continuity.

Card-F-11-14 DEH: As a matter of fact all monads in some degree or other suffer from this vagueness or lack of real individuality

Card-F-11-15 Date: Bury 25/11/45

And the only complete individual is the whole. The subconscious, & the phenomena of multiple personality, are 2 facts that undermine mans self sufficiency. He is not self-contained. He merges via his subconscious with the common unconscious. The separateness & monadic character of his mind is a gross illusion. Monads are a rough & ready framework which our Scheme has to supersede. Another scaffolding to be removed. And we will find that all Mabel is only a scaffolding to a scaffolding tothe truth.
