Card-M-34-07 Reading Myers DEH: I can give a wonderful example: As a child (or as a primitive man) you agreed with Societys views about things. The savage has no mind of his ownapart from the general beliefs and customs. But as you, and as man, grew up, you learnt about all sorts of conflicting beliefs, some of which you embraced, while you rejected others. The primitive uniformity of custom and belief split into a hundred differentiated and often contradictory elements. Finally, Mabel persuades you to come to the higher simplicity, where once more your beliefs are the same as Societys. You have arrived at the Higher Simplicity, because you have embraced all the divergent views into Societys view. Realism and Idealism, Left and Right, Atheism and Monotheismand many other differentiations are seen to be mutually supporting pairs whose common synthesis lies in the Social view. So also Mabel is now in the Differentiation Stage: richness of the original ideas are unfolding. Simplicity is still to be achieved.
