Card-S-27-08 DH: We must realise panpsychism, not merely accept it. For instance, when I look at a patch of blue colour, am I not appreciating what individuals have (albeit unconsciously) to say to me? Our external aspect — our contribution to the existence of other monads — what we have to say to them — is our revelation to them of a particular bit of the Whole. Thus you are for me a unique revelation of God, because you express yourself to me. Thus a painter arranges his material which is composed of individual beings (molecules) in such a way that these unconsciously express beauty. But they can only do this because they are ‘alive’, ‘persons’, & not ‘dead’ matter. Our whole attitude to the world would change if we saw every colour & shape & pattern as the revelation to us of minds. Just as truly as the colour & pattern of a painting reveals the painter’s mind. But note that the monad that thus reveals itself, its message, to me, does so indirectly, through God & the higher monads. That is why even a colour speaks to me of Him, & why every monad reveals Him to me. Literally, the monad is an expression of Him, and of the other supermonads.
