Card-C-03-15 J Caird. DEH: The condition of a higher knowledge is realisation of ‘unknowability’ at the level of the lower knowledge. Mystery, wonder, awe, are the channels leading from lower to higher knowing. Unknowing, realisation that you know nothing is the road to knowing everything, to a knowledge of Eternal Reality. On the other hand everything is unknowable save by God because everything is an aspect of the whole. To think you know what you are, & what anything else is, is to exalt yourself to divine rank. The first essential is to realise your utter ignorance — & then progress towards the true knowledge of things sub specie aeternatis.
