Index-Card-C-04-08 Thought. DEH: …the Law that thought of a thing is participation in the very being ^v of the thing at the thing’s own level, in the thing’s own Time. What is more, your thought of a thing is the thing’s own ‘extended’ super- or sub- thought of itself. In you a flower is self-conscious, an atom knows itself. [August 45. See next card]
Index-Card-C-04-09 Date: 8.8.45. DEH: You are at the flower’s level, the flower is at your level. You are participating in its Being, it in yours. In you the flower is conscious of its beauty & its scent. In the flower you are conscious of what are, in the end, your qualities, though given as not-yours. Some of our friends know us better than we know ourselves. In any case we come to know ourselves reflexively, from others’ reactions to us. This means persons are extensions by which we become self-conscious… Without person’s reactions to you, without the life you live in them, without the being you have conferred on you by them, you are only half there. In the end, our reality is conferred on us by the being we have in God’s consciousness.
